Continuity is the degree to which geological characteristics and mineral grades can be predicted between data points. It forms the foundation of geological modelling, Mineral Resource estimation, mine planning, and ultimately, investment confidence. However, continuity extends beyond grade alone. A robust resource model should evaluate:
🪨 Geological Continuity – Consistency of lithology, stratigraphy, structures, and alteration that can be traced between sample points with a high degree of confidence.
📊 Grade Continuity – Spatial distribution and predictability of mineral grades at two points separated by a given distance and direction.
🧭 Structural Continuity – Persistence of faults, folds, shear zones, and other structural controls.
⚒️ Mineralogical Continuity – Spatial consistency of ore minerals that influence processing and metallurgical recovery.

Importantly, continuity is deposit-specific .
A banded iron formation (BIF) or stratiform/well bedded limestone may exhibit excellent geological continuity, whereas vein-hosted gold and pegmatite-hosted lithium deposits often display complex geometry and highly variable grade distributions, requiring more detailed geological interpretation and closer drill spacing.
